Visceral Manipulation – Barral Method

Visceral Manipulation is a specialized osteopathic treatment focused on visceral tissues. Developed by French physiotherapist Jean-Pierre Barral, this therapy aims to restore mobility to the fascial tissue that connects the viscera to each other and to the musculoskeletal system.

Why is it needed?

Tension in these tissues restricts the body’s range of motion, both locally and at a distance. Without proper movement, overall health declines, and symptoms arise.

What is the goal?

A lack of mobility, even in internal tissues, can lead to dysfunction, causing pain and other symptoms. Restoring movement capacity supports the body’s natural healing process.

How is it performed?

Through manual contact, practitioners “listen” to the tissue and perform various tests to identify areas of highest connective tissue tension. Since these tissues link the viscera, releasing restrictions helps restore function.

To relax and release these tensions, gentle yet highly effective techniques are applied.

Session frequency: Typically every 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the individual case.
